A St. Clair Shores man will soon have his day in court after the discharge of a firearm inside his gun shop prompted weapons charges against him. On September 25, at 8:30 am, Youshia Pireh, 43, is scheduled to attend a Preliminary Exam before Judge Sebastian Lucido at the 41B District Court in Clinton Township, MI. According to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, Pireh faces two felony charges: Weapons – Firearms – Discharge in or at a Building and Weapons Felony Firearm, the latter to run consecutive to the main charge.

The incident leading to his arrest occurred on May 20, when Pireh reportedly shot a 9 mm handgun multiple times at a mannequin inside his gun shop, named GUNS, this act was captured on video and subsequently shared on Facebook, and even though the tattoo parlor located behind the targeted wall was open and filled with people at the time, fortuitously, there were no injuries reported. Pireh, who is currently out on a $25,000 personal bond, faces up to a 10-year sentence for the building discharge and a consecutive 2-year sentence for felony firearm possession.

Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido, expressing his concerns over the incident, emphasized that firearms must be handled responsibly, "When guns are used recklessly or without regard for others’ safety, the consequences can be severe and we will respond accordingly," he said, as reported by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, continuing with a pledge, "Our office takes any incident that endangers the public seriously, and we are committed to holding individuals accountable when their actions with a firearm put others at risk."

Underlining the principles guiding their office, the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office reaffirmed their dedication to serving justice fairly, "The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office represents the People. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan," as it was stated in their release, further clarifying, "All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
