An ambulance that was reported stolen last Saturday afternoon from Memorial Hermann Hospital has now been located and recovered, according to officials. Houston Fire Department authorities had explained that the ambulance, after having arrived at the hospital for patient conveyance, was found missing when medics came out of the facility. This incident was reported to have taken place at around 2:33 p.m., as noted by Click2Houston.
Alerted by the absence, authorities set out to quickly locate the stolen vehicle, a search that swiftly led to a traffic stop on Stuebner Airline Road by Houston Police. Fire officials had initially indicated that there might have been a police chase, but this account was later retracted, as confirmed in a report obtained by FOX26 Houston. The ambulance was pulled over without the need to pursue aggressively, thus avoiding additional risk.
With the matter at hand, two individuals were discovered inside the ambulance at the time of the stop. Houston Police have taken both into custody. The events leading up to the vehicle's disappearance and the subsequent detaining of the suspects have yet to be fully disclosed. However, no injuries have been reported in the recovery of the ambulance, according to the same report from Click2Houston.
So far, one person has been detained while authorities work to confirm details about a second individual. Identities and charges have not yet been released. Fire officials confirmed that another ambulance had to be sent after the stolen one was recovered, causing some disruption to emergency services. The incident happened near FM 1960, in the 7800 block of Stuebner Airline Road, as reported by FOX26 Houston.
