Caesar Tijerina, a 20-year-old man wanted in the shooting death of a San Antonio teenager, has died following a self-inflicted gunshot wound. KSAT-12 reports that Tijerina was pronounced dead yesterday afternoon after being tracked down by police to Laredo, where he shot himself just before officers could apprehend him last Friday. He was then transported to a hospital in San Antonio where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to KENS 5, Tijerina and another suspect, 18-year-old Fernando Flores, were wanted in connection to the murder of 14-year-old Simon Cuevas, who was attacked and fatally shot on April 16 while walking home from Brewer Academy. Flores, suspected of being the shooter, was arrested on August 14, and a third, unnamed juvenile suspect is still being sought by the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).

Alejandra Cuevas, mother of Simon Cuevas, expressed her feelings about the outcome, stating, "My prayers were for the capture of all the suspects, but not in this manner," in a social media post last Friday, as KENS 5 reported.

The SAPD continues the search for the remaining suspect involved in the case. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Tijerina died from his injuries at 3:47 p.m., as initially reported by KSAT-12. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
