The National Weather Service in Tampa is predicting scattered showers and thunderstorms in the coming days, resulting in a mix of mostly sunny skies and occasional wet weather for residents. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s, with heat index values exceeding 100 degrees, indicating that despite periods of sunshine, the humidity will cause conditions to feel very hot.
Starting today, there is a 40% chance of precipitation, primarily between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., according to the NWS. This evening, the chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms decreases to 10% before 8 p.m. As the sun sets, humidity levels remain high, and the calm winds that offered some relief during the day are expected to shift to a gentle west-southwest breeze in the afternoon.
As the weekend approaches, the weather pattern remains steady. Saturday is expected to have a 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms with sunny conditions tempered by persistent heat. The NWS has warned that high temperatures will continue throughout the week. On Sunday, the chance of precipitation increases to 70%.
Looking ahead to Monday and Tuesday, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue, with precipitation chances of 60% and 70% respectively. Despite periods of sunshine, these storms will bring intermittent bursts of rainfall across the dry landscape. Some areas may receive less than a tenth of an inch of rain, while others could experience heavier downpours within thunderstorms.
The rest of the week follows a similar pattern, with Wednesday and Thursday each having a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms, as reported by the NWS. Nighttime conditions are expected to feature partly cloudy skies and lingering moisture, with temperatures remaining warm, only slightly dropping to the high 70s.
