The National Weather Service in Tampa, FL, reports that residents should brace for a wet and potentially stormy period ahead, with the forecast calling for a high chance of showers and thunderstorms over the next several days. Today, thunderstorms are likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm, with the NWS predicting a high near 90 degrees, residents should expect heat index values to soar as high as 99, while showers and possible thunderstorms continue into the evening with temperatures dipping slightly to a low around 79.
Looking ahead, the NWS forecasts indicate that Sunday will mirror today with more showers and thunderstorms likely and mostly cloudy skies, the high staying near the 90-degree mark and heat index values could reach as high as 98; that pattern seems set to persist into the week with Monday and Tuesday neither offering much respite as both days promise scattered showers and thunderstorms followed by likely showers and possible storms after 2pm, temperatures peaking in the low nineties for both days and calm winds in the afternoon. The NWS indicates that new rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches could occur on both of these days.
Midweek forecasts suggest a slight uptick in temperatures but with continued instability in the air; showers and thunderstorms are likely before evening time with scattered outbreaks predicted to follow. Wednesday's high could reach near 94 degrees, a sunny start potentially giving way to showers and storms after midday and leading into a partly cloudy night with similar conditions forecast for Thursday, according to the NWS.
Rounding out the week, Friday's weather seems consistent with the previous days, the NWS suggests that showers and thunderstorms are again likely with a heat index rising to the high nineties although the official high is projected at near 92.
