Tampa residents have an opportunity to shape their community's future as the City of Tampa pushes ahead with the Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Action Plan (SSNAP). A second workshop, engaging with locals on improvements and collective vision, is scheduled for tonight at the Sulphur Spring K-8 Community School, running from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This session builds on initial findings and community feedback gathered in an earlier phase of the project.

"Our first phase included listening to the people who know Sulphur Springs best," stated Evan Johnson, the City of Tampa's Interim Director of City Planning in a statement obtained by the City of Tampa's official website. Insights from "surveys, stories, and interviews" have laid the groundwork for what's next. The workshop aims to refine these insights into a cohesive action plan, prioritizing the needs and aspirations of the Sulphur Springs community, which is home to around 10,000 residents.

Situated north of downtown Tampa by the Hillsborough River, Sulphur Springs is a historic neighborhood that traces its origins to the 1920s. The SSNAP focuses on rallying residents, business and property owners, community organizations, and city departments. Goals include directing infrastructure enhancements, updating development policies, fostering community programs, and strategizing investment priorities.

Before the workshop, media representatives will have the chance to gain insights from Lauren O'Neill, the Senior Planning Coordinator. O'Neill is set for a preview session Tuesday morning from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., shedding light on what will be presented that evening.
