Residents in a Van Nuys neighborhood have been subjected to an aural assault for months, as a local man continuously blasts horns and alarms from his residence, resulting in police intervention and widespread frustration. According to ABC7, neighbors on the 6600 block of Peach Avenue describe the situation with Gary Boyadzhyan as a persistent disturbance that’s been ongoing since June.
Despite repeated attempts by the Los Angeles Police Department to address the issue, Boyadzhyan has repeatedly resumed his loud protests shortly after being advised to cease. "They advised him that if he is using the horn, to stop using the horn because of the disturbance it is causing in the community, advising him not to do that," LAPD Capt. Chris Zine said, as per ABC7.
Reports state that the disruptive noises only last until the air powering the horns runs out, with the cacophony reaching a radius of 3.5 miles, neighbors told KTLA. Boyadzhyan claims a longstanding grievance with LAPD’s Van Nuys division over an unspecified personal issue is the driver behind his distress signals. In an apology to his neighbors, Boyadzhyan expressed regret for the disruption but insisted on his need for “justice to be served”. Neighbors have reported feeling helpless and frustrated, with one saying, "I mean, I hear what he's saying, he needs help, but what kind of help does he need?"
Boyadzhyan's disruptions have certainly not gone unnoticed by LAPD. After countless complaints and intervention attempts, Boyadzhyan was arrested on a Wednesday evening, as recounted by KTLA. It remains unclear what charges he faced following his custody.
