The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is tipping its hat to Veridian Homes, LLC for a solid two-decade commitment to the environment. The DNR celebrated the 20-year mark of Veridian's integration of the DNR’s Green Tier program, a move that sets the bar for sustainable homebuilding in Wisconsin.

Getting on board with Green Tier from its inception in 2005, Veridian Homes, a mainstay in Dane County’s residential construction scene, has since worked side by side with Focus on Energy to build homes that don't just look good but do good, energy-efficiently speaking. They've managed to couple resourcefulness with responsibility, trimming down their environmental footprint while crafting homes that promise more than just shelter. "By weaving environmental stewardship into our building practices, we’ve created lasting value for our customers while protecting the natural resources that make Wisconsin such a special place to live," a Veridian representative expressed, released by DNR.

In 2024, Veridian reported energy savings of over 2.3 million kilowatt-hours, enough to heat approximately 280 Wisconsin homes for a year. The company also continues to incorporate low-impact building materials and recycling practices in its homebuilding projects, including solar-ready homes.

Veridian's journey makes it a cornerstone member of the Clear Waters Initiative Charter, another Green Tier effort that unites local government units in Dane County, the building industry, and various commissions and associations to collaborate on enhancing stormwater management and erosion control. This aligns with their current exploration of eco-friendly ways to build, down to testing concrete washout stations and considering biodegradable stakes over metal ones in their building practices.

DNR Secretary Karen Hyun recognized Veridian during a ceremony at the company’s Madison design studio. In her statement, she highlighted Veridian’s contributions to reducing environmental footprints, noting efforts that span both business operations and the homes the company produces.
