The Wake County Animal Center has reached maximum capacity and is waiving all adoption fees through the end of August as part of its "Clear the Shelter" campaign.

According to the Wake County website, adoption fees, normally between $15 and $95, are being waived for all pets. The shelter currently houses 16 puppies, 240 dogs, 220 kittens, and 87 cats. Residents are encouraged to adopt, foster, donate supplies, or share information to help reduce overcrowding.

All adopted pets are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped. Adoption hours are daily from noon to 6 p.m., and the adoption gallery is available online. The shelter is located at 820 Beacon Lake Drive in Raleigh and is open seven days a week.
