The City of West Allis has announced a recovery plan following recent flooding. The Municipal Yard at 6300 W. McGeoch Ave. is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for at least two weeks to allow free disposal of flood-damaged debris, excluding large appliances and hazardous materials. Regular garbage and recycling collection will continue as scheduled, according to the City of West Allis.

The City of West Allis is using special trucks to collect flood-damaged items from residents’ usual pick-up locations, either in the alley or at the curb. If items are not collected on the scheduled day, residents can fill out a “Let Us Help” form on the city’s website. Fees are waived for the first two weeks after the flooding. Pickups may take 48–72 hours longer than scheduled due to staffing and equipment limits. The city is adding dumpsters in the hardest-hit areas, and personal dumpster rentals require a permit and flashing barricades. A Red Cross Shelter is open at Holler Park for displaced residents.

The City of West Allis is asking residents to report damage to the Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management to help assess the impact and apply for federal recovery funds. The West Allis Public Library is providing Wi-Fi and computer access for submitting reports or using online services. City officials said all available staff, equipment, and resources are being used in the response. Residents can visit the city’s website or contact the City of West Allis for updates and assistance.
