Residents in Hudson Valley can breathe a sigh of relief as Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) announced the reopening of the West Nyack Social Security office slated for August 11th, following a temporary closure for renovations, this move seeks to restore essential services to the community, especially seniors and individuals with disabilities who rely on face-to-face assistance for their Social Security needs. According to Lawler's office, the congressman has also revived his efforts to have the office equipped to conduct Social Security hearings, a function previously performed by the now-closed White Plains Hearing Office.
In the same breath, Lawler, recognized for his effective bipartisanship, underscored the office's role as a lifeline for many of my constituents and expressed gratitude towards the Social Security Administration for their work during renovations; constituents faced challenges during the closure, but Lawler's district offices provided continuous support, and he emphasized that services could also be accessed through the Social Security Administration's website. It's worth noting that Congressman Lawler's district encircles a significant swath of New York just north of the city, touching Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
While the West Nyack office was under renovation, Lawler's district offices served as a resource for constituents grappling with any issues or delays in their social security benefits. "I want to thank the staff at the Social Security Administration for completing the renovations and getting this vital resource back online," Lawler expressed in a statement. His office ensures those in need are aware that options remain available, whether it's the convenience of scheduling or changing appointments, applying for benefits, or accessing other services through the administration's official website.
Following his first term in office, Lawler has gained a reputation for crossing the aisle, earning the title of the most effective freshman lawmaker in the 118th Congress and ranking 8th overall; his bipartisanship is a hallmark that has surpassed even the performances of numerous committee chairs, signaling a commitment to navigating the legislative process with a focus on collaboration and tangible outcomes for his constituents, rather than falling into the competitive traps that can often paralyze the halls of Congress. The reopening of the West Nyack office is a testament to Lawler's dedication to serving his district's needs and enhancing accessibility to crucial services.
