
A tragic collision has left an 11-year-old boy in critical condition after a car crash in North Philadelphia. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 4:15 p.m. when, according to FOX29, a 2021 white Hyundai Kona, driven by a 33-year-old man, was heading southbound in the northbound lanes of North Broad Street and ran a red light, striking a 2017 white Toyota Camry.
Both vehicles reportedly suffered heavy front-end damage. The 33-year-old Hyundai driver was taken in critical condition to Temple University Hospital, while the 39-year-old Camry passenger was stabilized and is currently in stable condition, traveling to the hospital, and declined medical treatment, as reported by Patch.com. The focus of concern is on the young boy who was also in the Camry and sustained multiple injuries in the collision.
Medics rushed the child to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, indicating the severity of his condition. "The child was admitted in critical condition with multiple injuries," said the Philadelphia Police Department in a statement obtained by FOX29. Investigations are ongoing as the Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division looks into the crash's circumstances.
While the driver of the Hyundai remains hospitalized, details concerning potential charges have not yet been revealed by the authorities. With critical injuries, the driver's condition has remained unchanged, as told by 6ABC.
