The Ann Arbor Fire Department rescued a Michigan Medicine employee who was trapped in an elevator at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital on Sunday.  ClickOnDetroit reported that the elevator was stuck about 30 feet below the 8th floor, and the car’s brake system had locked, preventing it from being lowered to another floor without causing damage.

Firefighters in Ann Arbor rescued a person trapped in a hospital elevator. Crews turned off the elevator’s power and lowered themselves to the stalled car before using a harness to bring the individual out safely.

Units Tower 1-1, Engine 1-3, Engine 1-4, Rescue 1-1, and Battalion Chief 1-1 responded. According to the Ann Arbor Fire Department on their Facebook page, the elevator could not be moved without major repairs, but safety mechanisms prevented any risk of it falling.
