Authorities from the National Park Service (NPS) are on the hunt for a suspect after a violent confrontation at a popular local campground. The incident in question unfolded at the Las Vegas Bay Campground, located within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, where one camper reportedly assaulted another on Tuesday, as noted by FOX5 Vegas.
The suspect, identified by the NPS’s Investigative Services Branch as Guy Miranda, 57, swiftly fled into the surrounding desert following the assault, according to statements extracted by News3LV. Miranda, who stands 5-foot-8 and weighs 175 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes, is not only known to authorities but he is considered armed and dangerous, a detail that resonates uneasily with the tranquil backdrop of Las Vegas Bay Campground.
As the search intensifies, NPS officials have turned to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information regarding Miranda's whereabouts or the incident to come forward. Park rangers, as reported by 8 News Now, state that Miranda has “an extensive criminal history" and stress the importance of approaching the matter with utmost caution.
In their call to action, officials have outlined several ways the public can provide valuable information for their ongoing investigation. The ISB tip line is available for calls or texts at 888-653-0009.
