As DC welcomes the typical September breeze, our neighbors over in Baltimore are bracing for a warm spell followed by a dab of on-and-off rain showers and gustier days heading into next week, according to the National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC. The forecast, a dance between high pressure and a backdoor cold front dropping down later tonight, promises to shake up the weather from that muggy September warmth to a cooler, drizzlier Sunday, layman's terms - it's sweater weather, folks, then back to T-shirt times as a warm front struts its way through.
Saturday looks to keep umbrellas mostly unnecessary, barring those living west of the Blue Ridge where those elusive showers cling to a stubbornly stalled front, "Overall the weekend will be dry for most of the forecast area outside of areas west of the Blue Ridge (especially along and west of the Alleghenies) where the stalled front will reside," says the National Weather Service, somewhat reassuring for those planning on seizing those last moments of summer sun.
Mariners, on the Chesapeake Bay and tidal Potomac, will bask in Sub-Small Craft Advisory conditions until late Saturday, where easterly flow could trigger some sail-tightening breezes - prudent captains will keep an eye on that wind vane and perhaps postpone that weekend voyage to harness more placid seas.
