A recent court ruling handed down a decade-long prison sentence to Baltimore man John Hyman, age 21, for his involvement in a series of armed robberies and a carjacking. The U.S. District Judge Ellen L. Hollander ordered the sentence, which includes three years of supervised release following his prison term, as reported by NottinghamMD.

According to the information detailed in his guilty plea, Hyman, along with two other men, conducted armed robberies at a 7-Eleven convenience store in East Baltimore and the Stokos carry-out restaurant. They robbed the cash registers and carjacked a delivery driver for his vehicle keys. The men did not know the cash stolen included a tracker, which allowed the police to track their movements after the crime. This detail was described in a report by FOX Baltimore, seemingly unaware that their movements were being closely monitored by law enforcement.

The pursuit of the suspects involved both the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) and the Baltimore County Police Department (BCPD), who dispatched officers and aviation units to locate the suspects. Their efforts paid off when two vehicles, which were closely following each other and matched the movements of the money tracker, were located by the aviation units.

Eventually, after the vehicles attempted to escape but separated during the flight, authorities caught up with Hyman and his co-defendants. A loaded Smith & Wesson gun was recovered at the time of their arrest. Devin Grimes, one of Hyman's co-defendants, had already been sentenced to 10 years in a statement obtained by NottinghamMD.

U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, Kelly O. Hayes, along with officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) – Baltimore Field Division, announced the sentence.
