Tampa residents have a new way to beat the heat starting this week, with a fresh splash pad opening at Kings Forest Park. The splash pad, sprawling over 1,250 square feet, officially launches this coming Monday, offering locals a delightful reprieve from the sweltering Florida sun.
The new facility isn't just a random burst of jets and geysers, it's part of a substantial upgrade to the park located at 8008 E. Chelsea St., Tampa. Alongside the splash pad which boasts slip-resistant rubber and playful water features, visitors will also find two shade structures to keep the ultra-violet at bay, and a gazebo for those opting to stay dry but still revel in the ambiance, according to information provided by the Hillsborough County government website. Additionally, the improvement project includes more than just waterworks, with the addition of synthetic turf, a perimeter fence for safety, newly paved sidewalks for easy strolling, and landscaped areas that frankly, spruce up the place.
This major facelift doesn't forget practical matters either. Restrooms at the park have been renovated, a thoughtful touch that suggests planners know exactly who will be scampering through those fountains: kids and parents who value convenience and hygiene. The splash pad's introduction, being the main event, is commemorated with a ribbon-cutting set for 3 p.m. on the opening day, providing that community moment of "Hoorah, we did it."
For those plotting to swing by, take note, the ribbon-cutting ceremony heralds the park's latest additions at Kings Forest Park, 8008 E. Chelsea St., Tampa, FL 33610 next Monday at 3 p.m.
