Slated for October 16, the Bellevue Innovation Exchange invites the public to engage with a lineup that includes keynote speakers like Gretchen Peri, Washington State's chief technology officer, Rob Lloyd, CTO for the City of Seattle and David May, president of Bellevue College, these keynotes will be accompanied by lightning talks and startup pitches; the day's events run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by an evening celebration filled with refreshments, music, and more demonstrations on the City Hall plaza that will extend until 7 p.m., registration for the event is mandatory, interested individuals can sign up for either the daytime or evening session—or both.
In a push to embrace a broad audience and encourage regional participation, the event reaches out not only to big names and startups within the Eastside tech community but also to residents, government partners, policymakers, and businesses across various sectors. According to the city's official announcement, the Innovation Exchange aims to facilitate AI for productivity training for office workers, host an e-waste drive, and unveil partnerships from the Civic Innovation Challenge, which provides selected projects with essential resources, including coaching, city staff support, an opportunity for investment, and stipends of up to $15,000.
Bellevue’s Information Technology Department, which now administers a suite of programs under the Inclusive Innovation Forum, organized the Innovation Exchange as the fourth edition of this series, a communal effort commenced late in 2024 to connect various stakeholders focused on enhancing services and the quality of life for residents the earlier preview event in November and subsequent meetings in March and June have laid the groundwork for the October event, demonstrating the city's dedication to fostering innovation.
