As summer bids adieu, Charm City gears up to embrace the festive spirit with Baltimore's fourth annual Charm City Live set to take place this upcoming Saturday. The War Memorial Plaza is expected to come alive from noon until the sun dips with a range of attractions suitable for all ages. "This is a fun, free celebration of our city's charm and community that has something for everybody," Baltimore's mayor, Brandon M. Scott, is quoted as saying in a statement released by the City of Baltimore Mayor's Office.
The roster for the day-long event boasts performances by national artists including Lucky Day, The-Dream, Jeffrey Osborne, and Vivian Green. According to the Mayor's Office announcement, local vendors will showcase an assortment of food and merchandise, while entertainment for the kids will spill over with a smorgasbord of activities, despite security checkpoints required to enter the festival. Families can expect to find a basketball pop-up activation, a smoothie bike, and a Kids Zone cluttered with STEM activities, face painting, inflatable games, and more.
Keeping in mind the need for safety and order, entry to Charm City Live will be funneled through two main entrances, each with security checks. As listed by the Mayor's Office, prohibited items include weapons, outside food or drink, and large bags, among other things. For families planning to attend, take note that each adult is restricted to chaperone up to six minors, and photo IDs might be mandatory for age verification.
Transportation might be a bit of a pickle on the day of the event, with road closures anticipated on several streets in the vicinity. As detailed by the press release, detours will redirect traffic around the War Memorial Plaza, with alternative routes being suggested for those looking to skirt potential congestion. Guests planning their journey should factor in additional time for travel and for detours, which have been laid out with precision, ensuring minimal disruption to the local traffic flow.
