As fall rolls in with its pumpkin-spiced everything, Chatham County is prepping to host its 16th Annual Trunk or Treat Fall Festival, an event that stitches the community tightly with its Halloween traditions. Mark your calendars for October 25, where from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Southwest District Park, the festival will dish out treats and fun minus any tricks—candy, costumes, games, and family-friendly activities are on the docket. With a nod to the past fifteen successful years, the festival this year promises to seamlessly continue its streak as a go-to seasonal celebration.
The diverse spread of activities is sure to keep everyone entertained, with everything from arts and crafts to pumpkin carving in the mix. The afternoon's festivities will wind down to give way to the festival's titular event, Trunk or Treat, running in the final hour. This sweet finish allows local community members to open up their trunks—or rather, to specially decorate their vehicles—and to hand out candy to the costumed attendees. "This event has truly become a highlight of our fall season," shared Tracy Burnett, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Director, in a statement obtained by Chatham County's news release. With an accent on family values and community joy, the entire affair is fine-tuned to be a memorable one for festival-goers of all ages.
The festival offers free admission, so visitors can enjoy the activities without an entry fee. Event details, including the schedule, are available in the official Chatham County's news release.
Chatham County Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources is still accepting volunteers to host decorated trunks at the event. Those interested can contact Mallory Peterson at 919-642-7086 or [email protected], as noted in the news release. Updates will also be shared on the department’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
