The City of Davis, known for its bike-friendly streets and verdant community parks, is extending a breath of fresh air into the school year with the introduction of Fall Trekkers. Building on the success of the popular outdoor education summer camp, Trekkers, this program offers weekend camping adventures for tweens and teens. The City of Davis is excited to announce that Trekkers, one of the hottest outdoor education summer camps, is continuing into the school year with Fall Trekkers.
Offered for two distinct age brackets, 11 to 14 and 14 to 17 years old, Fall Trekkers is designed to immerse participants in nature through weekend sojourns to various state parks. According to the city's announcement, these young wilderness enthusiasts will learn valuable skills like setting up camp, outdoor cooking, and practicing "Leave No Trace" principles. Planned outings for the 11 to 14 years group include an excursion to Calaveras State Park from October 11-13 for $337, and a trip to Mt. Diablo set for December 6-7 costing $223.
For the older age group, Fall Trekkers has prepared experiences that combine adventure with environmental stewardship. The trips include a journey to Bodega Dunes from September 20–21 and a Trinidad State Beach camp-out happening November 8–10, each at a fee of $223 and $337, respectively. Fall Trekkers in the 14- to 17-year-old category will be given the opportunity to give back through environmental service projects, as noted by the city's announcement. Participants will join the Coastal Clean-up Day at Bodega Dunes and contribute to the restoration of California’s ecosystem at Trinidad State Beach, in partnership with the California Department of Parks and Recreation.
