The City of Dearborn invites public input on the West Warren Ave Transformation Project during an open meeting set for Sept. 9, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Byblos Banquet Center on 7258 Chase Rd—the occasion serves as the second assembly aimed at deliberating the future of the thoroughfare.
The gathering springs from a collaboration with the U.S. Department of Transportation, which has allocated a $24.8 million Safe Streets for All grant to fund the roadway engineering project. This endeavor looks beyond mere asphalt and toward a collective vision, according to Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud, who, in a statement to the City of Dearborn, voiced, "Warren Ave has long sustained a sizable portion of Dearborn’s small business economy. It is also a central transportation hub for the strong neighborhoods and communities along its stretch. As we look to modernize and increase safety along this vital roadway, we invite our residents to chart the future of this roadway with us."
Widespread modifications are on the drafting table for this major artery of Dearborn life, with the Warren Avenue Transformation Project earmarking a multitude of traffic safety solutions. Motorists, pedestrians, bikers, transit users, and businesses are to benefit from reduced vehicle speeds and the cessation of dangerous weaving traffic behaviors, safety-focused intersection renovations, and the creation of pathways intended to stoke the flow of foot and bike traffic.
