In a heartfelt ceremony this past week, the community-oriented Dunedin Blue Jays took a moment before their game to celebrate the non-profit organization Wheelchairs4Kids for reaching a milestone in their mission to improve the lives of children with mobility challenges. The group provided its 2,000th wheelchair to a young boy named Andrew, who marked the occasion by throwing the ceremonial first pitch. The event was shared with pride on the City of Dunedin Florida - Government's social media, capturing a narrative of community collaboration and support.
The Dunedin Fire Department, having a personal connection to the charity through one of their members’ children, who serves as an ambassador for Wheelchairs4Kids, was also present during the celebration. According to the post by the City of Dunedin Florida - Government, "The Dunedin Fire Department was honored to be invited, as one of our member’s daughters is an ambassador for Wheelchairs4Kids. It was a night to remember!" Their involvement signifies a mesh of local forces rallying behind Andrew, his new set of wheels, and the cause that put them into motion.
