Residents in St. Johns County can look forward to a new social and educational hub as the Hastings Community Center and Library is slated to open its doors in early 2026. The project, which is advancing on schedule, is poised to bring modern library amenities alongside versatile spaces for community use. In a recent update, the Office of Public Affairs showcased the construction progress through a video, according to St. Johns County.

Designed to improve public infrastructure and enhance the quality of life, the center aims to provide a mixed-use space that caters to a diverse range of needs and interests. St. Johns County Public Library System Director Debra Rhodes Gibson shared, “The Hastings Community Center and Library will be a place where families can come to learn, grow, and connect,” in a statement obtained by St. Johns County. Located at 401 N. Main St., the site will provide residents with access to educational and cultural programs in central Hastings.

According to the same source, St. Johns County Public Works Project Manager Brad Guagliardo expressed excitement about the nearing completion, stating, “In a few months, this community will see the facility they chose, and we are more excited to bring this resource to such a great community.” The community center-library hybrid will house increased space for books, meeting rooms, event areas, and an outdoor gathering space, fostering a new venue for people to congregate and partake in community-driven activities.

Construction updates revealed by Kingdom Construction, the project contractor, indicate that key installations are nearing completion, including exterior stucco, interior drywall, and essential systems like mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. The facility is also set to soon have power connected, with additional site work, such as parking and underground stormwater systems, in the pipeline. This development comes as part of St. Johns County's investment in public spaces, with part sponsorship from the Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services and the State of Florida.
