A 23-year-old Farmington Hills man, Cameron Lee Sims, has been charged in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a Sterling Heights woman. According to The Detroit News, Sims is facing three charges, which include operating while intoxicated - causing death, reckless driving causing death, and leaving the scene of an accident when at fault – causing death.

Sandy Odisho, 40, was found trapped in her vehicle following the accident that occurred at the intersection of East Eight Mile Road and Schoenherr Street in Detroit. Despite the efforts of medics, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Sims allegedly was intoxicated and fled the scene after hitting Odisho, reports CBS News Detroit. Sims was later arrested by Detroit police officers.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy emphasized the gravity of the charges against Sims. "An innocent woman is dead because this person was allegedly intoxicated and failed to follow the rules of the road. He then compounded that by allegedly leaving the scene of a criminal crash where he was at fault," Worthy stated in a comment provided by CBS News Detroit. The prosecutor reiterated that adherence to road regulations is not optional but required by law.

The court proceedings for Sims began with an arraignment last Sunday, where he was granted a $20,000 bond. Following the accident, a bond re-determination hearing was set for the following Tuesday, and a probable cause conference is slated for October 7, with a preliminary examination on October 14. These details were outlined by The Detroit News.
