A Farmington Hills man, 38-year-old Jamel Rishard Hoze, is facing charges for allegedly using a computer to accost a 15-year-old boy from Livonia. Prosecutors said Hoze contacted the teenager through an online dating app and on April 17, encouraged him to meet for illegal sexual contact, according to the Wayne County.
Hoze has been charged with accosting a minor for immoral purposes, using a computer to commit a crime, and distributing sexually explicit material to a child. Authorities said he allegedly solicited a teenager in person and sent inappropriate photos through a social media app. Prosecutor Kym Worthy stated, "We must be proactive in continuing to educate and communicate with our children about online predators. There are real dangers in the online world, and we must make sure they are not sharing personal information with strangers online," as reported by the Wayne County.
Hoze was arraigned in the 16th District Court, where bond was set at $300,000 cash with a GPS tether and no contact with minors. A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for September 25, and a Preliminary Examination is scheduled for October 2. Authorities asked anyone with similar allegations to contact local law enforcement, and the Livonia Police Department said a photo of the defendant is available upon request, as stated by the Wayne County.
