A tragic collision earlier today resulted in the death of a driver when a vehicle, reportedly stolen, crashed at high speed into a building in Brooklyn. The incident occurred on Flatbush Avenue in the Midwood section of the borough, according to the NYPD.

The vehicle, identified as a Honda Civic, was out of control when it jumped the curb around 1:45 a.m., and impacted a building, resulting in the car splitting in half, as detailed by Eyewitness News. The 41-year-old driver was found lying on the roadway and subsequently pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital. Investigators suspect the car was left running, and unattended near Regent Place, and Flatbush Avenue before being taken.

Footage of the event captured the vehicle traveling at a considerable speed before the collision. "I’ve never seen a vehicle, honestly, in person like that," a witness expressed in disbelief to FOX 5 NY's Hayley Fixler. "Never in my life and I've seen pictures, I've seen TV, but to actually see a vehicle dismantled like that from an impact on a building, it's crazy to me."

The video obtained by Eyewitness News graphically illustrates the severe damage to the car, one half ended upside down on the road after the harrowing incident.
