The Franklin County Sheriff's Office recently opened the doors of its Citizens Academy for the third week, offering a peek into the mechanical workings of law enforcement administration and information dissemination. The educational initiative, which highlighted the roles of various divisions within the Sheriff's Office, aims to bridge the gap between the public and law enforcement officials, fostering an atmosphere of transparency and community involvement.
This week's session, which was led by Captain Wimbish and Lieutenant Graham from the Administration Division, delved into the intricacies of Civil Services, Internal Affairs, and Real Estate operations within the Sheriff's Office. The Academy's aim, to provide community members with a rounded understanding of the law enforcement processes, is gaining traction, with residents becoming more engaged in the safekeeping of Franklin County.
Furthering the theme of transparency and communication, Maria Durant, the Director of Media Relations for the Sheriff's Office, and her team took center stage. They discussed the strategies and channels used in sharing information with the public. According to a social media post from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Durant's overview encompassed the use of social media platforms, the sheriff's office app, and traditional news outlets, all tools aimed at ensuring necessary safety information reaches the community promptly.
