In a recent crackdown on suspected narcotics activity in Glen Burnie, Maryland, local authorities have taken two individuals into custody. The arrests came after detectives carried out a precision-executed search and seizure warrant, uncovering a cache of drugs and weapons. According to an Anne Arundel County press release, detectives from the Eastern and Northern District Strategic Patrol Teams, embroiled in an ongoing narcotics investigation, observed the suspects engage in what appeared to be a drug transaction outside a residence on Mainview Court.

As detectives descended upon the scene on September 24, Jhi Mikal Colbert, a 26-year-old resident of Glen Burnie, and Jewel Desiree Waterstraat, a 27-year-old from Baltimore, were taken into custody. The search that followed led to the seizure of approximately 88 pills of suspected Oxycodone, among other substances, including roughly 3.82 pounds of suspected Cannabis and an estimated 40.11 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms. A plethora of ammunition and a digital scale were also among the haul, as well as a notable sum of cash amounting to $483.00.

But perhaps most concerning was the discovery of the weaponry – a Hanover Armory AR-15 .556 semi-automatic rifle. Its presence, mingled within a residential area, punctuates the often-ignored juxtaposition of everyday life and the potential for violence that seeps through the cracks of urban communities. The ammunition recovered included 37 rounds of 9mm, 34 rounds of .44 caliber, a single round of .22 caliber, 8 rounds of .556 caliber, and 4 rounds of .40 caliber.

Both Colbert and Waterstraat now face a string of charges in relation to the narcotics investigation.
