The Hays County Sheriff's Office Civil Service Commission has scheduled a public meeting to be held on September 17, 2025, at the Sheriff's Office Public Safety Building in San Marcos. The agenda is set to start with a call to order and roll call, followed by a segment for public comments. Notably, the commission plans to review and possibly take action regarding the 2025 Promotional Written Exam, which has recently come under scrutiny for its evaluation and recalculation of questions.
Residents interested in the inner workings of their civil service may attend the open meeting, which also includes the approval of the previous meeting’s minutes dated August 20. The commission has stressed the importance of transparency and community involvement by adhering to the Texas Open Meetings Act. In addition, an executive session may be held if necessary to discuss legal advice on litigation and personnel matters specifically listed on the agenda.
Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is also a priority for the Hays County officials. For individuals requiring assistance, such as an interpreter for the hearing impaired, requests can be made to the director of the Civil Service Commission. While Braille is not available, other accommodations will be made to support participants with disabilities, ensuring their ability to engage in the public discourse.
In line with the inclusive approach, the commission invites those with disabilities to reach out as soon as the meeting is advertised or as soon as it is practically possible to arrange necessary accommodations. This gesture aligns with Hays County’s commitment to facilitating an accessible and receptive environment for all its residents, ensuring that every voice, regardless of ability, is given the opportunity to be heard and considered during the meeting.
