
In a significant act of intervention, Long Beach Police Department officers rescued a 15-year-old girl from what has been reported as a human trafficking situation at a North Long Beach motel on August 20. According to the official statement released by the LBPD, the incident unfolded on the 5300 block of Atlantic Avenue following a report of possible trafficking.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the girl had run away from a group home and encountered several adult men who sexually assaulted her. Officers later rescued her and ensured she received appropriate support services, as per the LBPD.
Conveying the gravity of the situation, Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish said, "The trafficking of a child can have devastating and often enduring traumatic effects." He expressed his gratitude towards the officers who conducted the rescue and highlighted the ongoing efforts to apprehend the perpetrators involved in the crime. The LBPD has issued an appeal to the public, urging anyone with information on the case to come forward.
