Trade winds are once again sweeping through Honolulu, bringing with them the typical pattern of showers to windward and mauka areas. According to the National Weather Service's Honolulu forecast, these conditions are expected to persist through Monday. On the leeward side, particularly over the Big Island, residents might see some afternoon showers, but the forecast suggests that other leeward regions will likely remain dry for the time being.
Recent thunderstorms in Kauai and Oahu have ended as the weather system causing them has weakened and moved away. The weather should stay mostly stable through Tuesday. However, an old cold front may move in on Wednesday. For travelers and aviation enthusiasts, mostly good flying weather (VFR) is expected. However, brief lower visibility (MVFR) may occur in passing showers, especially over Windward Big Island. Out over the Pacific, marine conditions should stay steady. Easterly trade winds will get a bit stronger, but not enough to trigger Small Craft Advisories in the windier channels, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Surfers can expect steady waves on south-facing shores today, with a slight drop on Monday as a small south swell moves through. East-facing shores will see modest surf with no big changes, thanks to returning trade winds. For those in wildfire-prone areas, there's no major fire risk right now, even with breezy trade winds expected through Tuesday, as detailed by the National Weather Service.
For now, the Honolulu Forecast Office has issued no warnings or advisories, indicating a period of calm on the weather front for island residents and visitors. With the trade winds at the helm, the majority can expect the familiar pattern of island weather to continue, punctuated briefly by an expected increase in showers midweek, as per the National Weather Service.
