Houston-based Shipley Do-Nuts has introduced a cold brew flavored doughnut, combining the taste of the coffee drink with its buttermilk cake doughnut and glaze topping. The item is priced at $1.99 and will be available for a limited time from September 26 to October 10 at participating locations as part of National Coffee Day, as reported by KHOU.
Shipley Do-Nuts has introduced a new Cold Brew Donut following its sale to Levine Leichtman Capital Partners, a California-based private equity firm. Each donut contains 56 milligrams of caffeine. On September 29, National Coffee Day, Shipley will offer Sweet Rewards loyalty members a free Cold Brew Donut or Original Glazed with any coffee purchase at participating locations.
Shipley CEO Flynn Dekker announced a new product for National Coffee Day, saying, "Cold brew has become a daily go-to drink for so many people, and for National Coffee Day, we wanted to create something special that combines bold coffee flavors with our fresh handmade doughnuts," as mentioned by Chron. The release follows a Texas trend of turning popular items into new treats, such as Whole Foods’ chantilly cake latte and Dr Pepper-inspired shakes at Whataburger and P. Terry’s, along with Blue Bell ice cream. Shipley stated that its 89-year-old doughnut recipe remains the same as it introduces this new cold brew-inspired item.
