In a not-so-savvy attempt at discount shopping, three individuals are now on the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office radar after allegedly helping themselves to merchandise without bothering to pay. A social media post from the JSO's Facebook page cunningly titled "WANTED WEDNESDAY: Do You Recognize These Bargain Hunters?" makes it clear that the only hunt these individuals won was for the attention of law enforcement.
It seems the trio, seen on security footage from a store on Southside Boulevard on August 14, decided on an ill-advised five-finger discount approach, filling their empty handbags and pants with items devoid of price tags, JSO's Facebook post was not shy to note, the trio "must’ve thought they were part of a rewards program," but the points they're collecting are set to earn them "charges" instead of savings. The officers are reaching out to the public for assistance, with the optimistic bargain of exchanging the stolen goods for "three pairs of silver bracelets" and an involuntary stay at the local jail.
When the District 3 Patrol officers responded to the scene, they were presented with clear footage showing the three suspects as they shopped not with cards or cash but with sheer audacity, tucking away products out of sight and past security sensors. The JSO is hopeful that someone in the community can identify these individuals, urging anyone with information to get in touch and facilitate what they hint at being an inevitable rendezvous with justice. "Our officers need your help identifying this trio so we can trade the items they took for three pairs of silver bracelets and a stay at our jail," the post stated, as they appealed to the community's sense of civic duty.
An incident that occurred in mid-August remains under investigation by law enforcement. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has shared details and photos related to the case on its Facebook page as part of efforts to identify the individuals involved.
Residents are encouraged to review the information and contact authorities with any tips that may assist the investigation.
