In a sweeping move against drug trafficking within its precincts, the federal judiciary has clamped down on a Kaukauna man. according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, John R. Sloan, 58, has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison. Following his conviction for intent to distribute methamphetamine, Sloan faces 150 months behind bars—a sentence reflecting his long history of entanglement with the law, dating back to 1985.

Investigators turned over every stone linked to Sloan's operation in August 2024. During searches of his car, home, and various storage facilities, authorities seized an arsenal of damning evidence. They found over 7 pounds of methamphetamine and more than $140,000 in cash, along with four firearms and a vehicle. Acting as if the man owned the drug-laden storage units, investigators reported his admission of obtaining mass quantities of the narcotic from a California source, as well as distributing upwards of 20 pounds across the Fox Valley region. At the time, Sloan was already under state supervision due to a previous conviction, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The court has also mandated that Sloan give up a sizeable hoard amassed from his illicit activities. Senior United States District Judge William C. Griesbach ordered forfeiture of the cash, which totals $142,190, and physical assets including three handguns, a shotgun, and a 2016 Dodge Challenger. This marks a substantial monetary loss for Sloan, directly correlating to the profits acquired through his drug trafficking endeavors, as noted by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

All hands were on deck for the case with the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group – Drug Unit (LWAM) spearheading the investigation, pooling the efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI). The Assistant United States Attorney Alex Duros prosecuted the case, leading to Sloan's current fate. With the car as if it was a prize from the drug trade, the forfeiture listing in the government ledger marks a closing chapter in Sloan's lengthy criminal career as far as the public record shows, as per the U.S. Attorney's Office.
