The M-90 at the North Branch Flint River bridge in Lapeer County will be closed overnight for deck pouring from 6 p.m. on Thursday to 5 a.m. on Friday. Drivers will need to follow a detour during this time, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
A section of M-90 is closed for a $3.5 million project that includes resurfacing, adding centerline rumble stripes, and updating pavement markings. The nearby bridge will also receive repairs, painting, and railing fixes. A detour is available via M-24 (Lapeer Road), Burnside Road, and Fish Lake Road, weather permitting, as reported by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced Michigan’s infrastructure plans to improve roads and bridges and support local jobs. "Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely," Whitmer said. This year, 24,500 lane miles of road and 1,900 bridges will be repaired without raising taxes, and one local project is expected to support 33 jobs. The work is intended to extend the lifespan of roads and bridges and improve travel safety, as stated by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
