As Las Vegas gears up for the high-octane 2025 Formula 1 Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix, major roadwork on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit has begun to significantly impact local traffic. According to News 3 LV, residents can expect several lane closures and reductions leading up to the November 20-22 race event. The closures are part of preparations to get the legendary strip race-ready and also to facilitate construction work by MGM Resorts on the new Bellagio Fountain Club.
Starting September 8 through September 19, overnight reductions are severely limiting traffic on Harmon Avenue between Las Vegas Boulevard and Koval Lane. These restrictions are set to take place from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Friday, ensuring that one lane remains open in each direction. Drivers are encouraged to stay informed and regularly check updates, as the schedule is subject to change.
Additional closures, as reported by 8 News Now, include overnight work on Koval Lane near Rochelle Avenue, which began on September 1, and also upcoming overnight lane reductions on Koval Lane between Kruger Drive and Harmon Avenue from September 15 to October 3. These adjustments coincide with the race's 3.8-mile circuit, where drivers are expected to reach speeds surpassing 215 mph (346 kph).
Moreover, full closure on Harmon Avenue at Koval Lane is slated for September 17 from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., specifically for light installation, with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department enforcing this arrangement. To further complicate traffic flow, twenty-four-hour lane reductions will be seen on Las Vegas Boulevard southbound between Flamingo Road and Bellagio Drive from September 15 to November 10, as a part of the Bellagio Fountain Club construction. The announcement warns pedestrians about the sidewalk closure in front of Bellagio during this period.
Residents relying on public transportation should note that RTC Route 119 will experience nightly stop closures from September 15 to October 2, affecting multiple stops on the route.
