Mark your calendars for a taste of international flair in Manhattan, as London’s popular Indian restaurant Kricket is set to make its stateside debut with a pop-up event in October. For a brief stint, Kricket will swap its usual Indian-British fusion to take over Mexican restaurant Comal on October 6 and 7, giving New York diners a preview before potentially establishing a permanent location in late 2026 or 2027, according to Eater New York.
While Kricket is serving up a tantalizing preview of its acclaimed small-plate fare, Little Italy is throwing down its 99th annual Feast of San Gennaro, set to start today and stretch through September 21. The festival, a vibrant mix of Italian American culture, music, and food will engulf the neighborhood in festivities including a priestly Blessing of the Strands to kick things off and a parade featuring floats, celebrities, and a Grand Marshal Joe Piscopo, whom organizers described as embodying "faith, family, food, and Italian pride", as AM New York highlights.
Back on the spicy side of culinary experiences, Kricket brings a hybridized spice tail to Comal's Mexico City vibe, offering a prix-fixe menu that includes bhel puri, Keralan fried chicken, and a range of fusion dishes designed to win over New York palates. Secure your spot by booking reservations via Resy for a seat at the table to dine on Indian cuisine like never before starting at 5 p.m. each evening.
The Feast of San Gennaro runs for eleven days and features a wide range of events, including pop-opera, karaoke, and a cannoli-eating contest where last year’s winner ate more than 30 pastries in six minutes. Visitors can also enjoy classic foods like sausage and peppers, zeppoles, and cannolis. The celebration ends with a grand mass and a street procession carrying the statue of the patron saint.
