The City of Long Beach is stepping up its tech game with a rollout of free Community Workshops focused on Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Skills, and Data Privacy, as part of its Digital Inclusion Week celebrations. For residents keen to brush up on tech know-how, sessions will be available throughout October, as reported by the City of Long Beach. These workshops aim to give the community the know-how to confidently use AI tools and to understand the essentials of data privacy in the digital age.
Long Beach locals can expect hands-on activities alongside informative presentations. They'll be able to closely watch live demos that showcase everyday uses of AI technology. The organizers promise a clear-cut exploration of Generative AI and its applications within the city. The workshops are designed not only to inform but also to empower people to always safely and effectively handle AI tools. Amid increasing cybersecurity concerns, practical tips on protecting personal data will be a major focus.
Various Community Centers across the city will play host to these 90-minute sessions, with no fees attached. Notable venues include the Doris Topsy-Elvord Community Center and the El Dorado Park West Community Center, among others. Dates are spread out from October 8 to October 22, offering multiple opportunities for those wishing to attend. Full details on locations and times are accessible via the city's official announcement. Participants are encouraged to register in advance to secure their spot.
For those needing Spanish, Khmer, or Tagalog interpretation services, the City has made provisions. However, attendees are advised to request these services well ahead of time when registering to ensure they are adequately accommodated.
