Early this morning, the Los Angeles Fire Department successfully extinguished a structure fire at an apartment building in Sawtelle. The blaze, which emitted smoke from the second floor of a two-story apartment row on Corinth Avenue, prompted a swift response from firefighters. According to the LAFD alert, crews executed an aggressive interior attack while also coordinating rooftop operations to subdue the fire, which was contained to a single unit.
During the firefight, the fire department requested traffic management assistance from the Department of Transportation and crowd control from the LAPD. The LADWP and local gas company were called in to address utility concerns, while the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety assessed the structure’s integrity after the flames were out.
The LAFD achieved a full knockdown within 22 minutes of arrival—a testament to their training and efficiency. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with no immediate answers as to what sparked the event.
