A 65-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of a 69-year-old woman in Lutherville, Baltimore County Police announced. The victim, identified as Patricia Watson-Geiger, was found deceased with upper body trauma last Monday, according to FOX Baltimore. The suspect, Karl Geiger, is the ex-husband of the victim and was taken into custody following the incident.
Initially reported as a home invasion gone tragically wrong, Geiger claimed to have discovered his ex-wife unresponsive after returning from work. In an attempt to gradually make sense of the scene, charging documents obtained by WMAR-2 News indicate that while items appeared to be disturbed at the crime scene, valuables such as jewelry remained untouched. The couple had been living in separate bedrooms despite their divorce, a detail that became known during the course of the investigation.
Further complicating the initial report of a break-in, Geiger informed the dispatcher, "it looks like someone broke into my house and my wife's not moving," as reported by WMAR-2 News. Patricia Watson-Geiger was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Geiger also mentioned to the police that Watson-Geiger was shot in the head, information he had seemingly disclosed before it was ever released during the investigation. Neighbors had reported hearing gunshots at a time when records suggest Geiger had not yet left the house. He is currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center, with information from FOX Baltimore contributing to the unfolding narrative of this case.
