
At the Michigan Association of Airport Executives fall conference in Bellaire, the Michigan Aeronautics Commission and the Michigan Department of Transportation presented the 2025 Award of Excellence. The awards recognized airports, aviators, and industry professionals for their contributions to aviation in Michigan, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
The Airport Cooperative Research Program in Washington, D.C., managed by the Transportation Research Board, received an award for 20 years of work in aviation, focusing on research and solutions for airport operations, safety, and sustainability. Charlie Tyson, technology activation director for the Michigan Economic Development Corp.'s Office of Future Mobility and Electrification, was also recognized for his work in aviation technology that improved safety, efficiency, and Michigan’s aviation infrastructure, as reported by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Bryan Budds, MAC director and MDOT Office of Aeronautics administrator, said, "I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the award winners for their hard work and dedication to Michigan aviation." He recognized the work of individuals and organizations that support Michigan aviation. The awards recognize achievements by airports and aviation professionals in the state, as stated by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
