The Moorpark Police Department has arrested 27-year-old Christian Ortiz of Moorpark in connection with a series of gang-related graffiti incidents. According to the announcement made by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, Ortiz faces charges for both felony and misdemeanor graffiti vandalism, as well as possession of tools to commit graffiti vandalism. The arrest is the culmination of investigative efforts that linked the vandalism across the city to a unique moniker believed to be used by Ortiz.
Over a three-month period between July and September 2025, the city witnessed numerous reports of vandalism on city-owned property, which brought together various units within the police department to stop and to hopefully prevent further damage. The Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), assisted by the Moorpark Investigations Unit and Patrol Services, conducted the investigation that eventually led to Ortiz's arrest on September 16th. A statement obtained by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Ortiz was found with graffiti tools at the time of his arrest.
Ortiz is currently booked at the Ventura County Main Jail facing multiple charges, including four counts of PC 594(b)(1) for felony graffiti vandalism that caused damage over $400 and three counts of PC 594(b)(2)(A) for misdemeanor vandalism with damage less than $400. The Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to further arrests in the case. The public is encouraged to support local law enforcement by following them on social media and through the Nixle alert service for ongoing updates and advisories.
The Moorpark Special Enforcement Unit, whose role is to assist in the investigation of various crimes, including illegal firearms, gang-related activities, and vandalism, also expressed gratitude to community members whose tips greatly aid in solving crimes, according to Detective Bryan Glasscock’s prepared news release dated September 19th. The efforts reflect a joint commitment by the police and public to combat crime effectively within their community. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office underscored the value of these community partnerships and encourages continued public vigilance and support.
