For Milwaukee residents grappling with the consequences of the recent devastating floods, relief may be within reach. Alderman Lamont Westmoreland has spotlighted the opening of several Milwaukee County Multi-Agency Resource Centers this week, equipped to promptly offer services to those in dire need of aid. According to a press release shared by the City of Milwaukee, these centers will serve as consolidated points for residents to access crucial services, from insurance advice to mental health support.
The importance of these resource hubs cannot be overstressed, designed to quickly help residents to start navigating the maze of recovery-related services. Available assistance includes the Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection, the Wisconsin Office of Insurance, and BadgerCare Plus, along with other support from the Salvation Army of Milwaukee County, FoodShare, and more. These centers are set out to provide relief, connection, and critical information, all under one roof.
The launch dates and locations for the resource centers are distributed throughout the week to boost accessibility. Today's center is hosted at King Community Center on 1531 W. Vliet St., Milwaukee, followed by a center tomorrow at McCarthy Park Pavilion, and another on Saturday at the Mary Ryan Boys & Girls Club. Each location is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., providing ample time for those who may need to arrange transportation or time off work to visit.
In a statement underscoring the need for such community support structures, Alderman Westmoreland noted, "We know residents are still in need of resources in the aftermath of the historic flooding that occurred last month, and these resource centers offer a central hub for those in need to gather as much information as they can as conveniently as possible."
