Early on Tuesday morning, North Hollywood experienced a major road disturbance involving a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Vineland Avenue and Vanowen Street. The incident, reported at 6:44 AM, required emergency services to halt a nearby Metrolink train and perform rescue operations. According to City News Service, none of the six individuals assessed at the scene sustained critical injuries.
Within the tangled scene, one vehicle was found on top of another, and a second was overturned, indicating the severity of the crash. As crews worked on-site, the Los Angeles Fire Department's Margaret Stewart divulged that one person had to be extricated using a "quick door pop." While all this unfolded, a railroad crossing signal lay amidst traffic lanes, as reported by Stewart in a statement obtained by LAFD ALERT - Traffic.
As traffic in the vicinity was disrupted, the Los Angeles Police Department was on scene managing the flow and investigating the causes of the collision. The LAFD was actively engaged in evaluating the situation, which they updated to reflect that five of the individuals were transported to nearby medical facilities with non-life-threatening injuries, and the sixth declined LAFD transport, according to LAFD ALERT - Update Traffic - Multi-Casualty Incident.
Service for Metrolink passengers was temporarily interrupted but resumed shortly after the tracks were cleared, moving slowly for safety precautions. As the Los Angeles Fire Department and Police Department continued their efforts to resolve the aftermath of this commuter disturbance, both agencies coordinated closely to maintain public safety and to assist those affected by the morning's events. The LAPD is directing inquiries to incident number 0880 for further details concerning the crash investigation.
