
A pedestrian lost their life this past Friday after an encounter with a semi-truck in Long Beach, according to local authorities. The Long Beach Police Department responded to a call around 4 p.m. at the intersection of 67th Street and Paramount Boulevard, as reported by CBS News Los Angeles. Officers arrived on the scene to find an unconscious man who was later pronounced dead by the Long Beach Fire Department, despite the life-saving attempts made.
The collision's details were outlined by the LBPD, who stated, "The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was walking northbound in the middle of the roadway, outside of the marked crosswalk." The semi-truck, described as a 2019 International, was traveling southbound on 67th Street at the time of the incident. The truck's driver, a 51-year-old man from Long Beach, cooperated with the authorities post-collision. KTLA noted that neither speed nor impaired driving is considered to be a contributing factor, according to the police.
Efforts are currently underway by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner to identify the deceased and notify his next of kin.
