In an effort to bring awareness to National Recovery Month, the Shapiro Administration is rolling out a "Recovery in Nature" wellness event set for today at Sinnemahoning State Park. Aimed squarely at individuals battling substance use disorders, the initiative is a combined venture by the Pennsylvania Departments of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) and Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), as reported by PACast.
The event is being touted as a therapeutic retreat to openly celebrate and support the journey of recovery. It seeks to not only showcase the restorative ambiance of nature but also to deliberately connect those in recovery with Pennsylvania's natural resources. Dr. Latika Davis-Jones, Secretary of DDAP and Cindy Adams Dunn, Secretary of DCNR, are slated to attend alongside officials from the Armstrong Indiana Clarion Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc. (AIC).
According to an advisory on PACast, the AIC serves as the recovery hub for DDAP's Region 7, which covers the northern-tier counties of Pennsylvania. The organization's involvement is expected to highlight the ongoing support provided to individuals walking the path of recovery.
All eyes will be on Sinnemahoning State Park's 40 Maples Day Use Area today, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, as it becomes the backdrop for stories of resilience and healing. Press interested in attending have been asked to RSVP by emailing [email protected]. For those unable to make it, photos and video content are to be made available after the event, ensuring the initiative's message has the chance to widely resonate beyond the physical confines of Cameron County.
