In stark contrast to the unfortunate turn of events for The Greene Turtle's Towson location, Timonium residents are witnessing the birth of a new fitness alternative set to open its doors in November. Planet Fitness, the national gym chain known for its "Judgement Free" philosophy, is constructing its new 'Planet Fitness Timonium' at 2301 York Road, WMAR-2 News reported. Promising "best-in-class" strength and cardio equipment, this forthcoming facility will also include multiple flat-screen televisions, enhancing the workout experience.

While Planet Fitness is eyeing expansion and new opportunities, The Greene Turtle is facing the closure of its flagship Towson location. This development arises as the restaurant ceased its “Thirsty Thursdays” promotions due to excessive disturbances caused by patrons, which has even resulted in a police cadet being served, a violation that cost the establishment a $1,000 fine, WBAL-TV reported. The Greene Turtle's business model, which once thrived on weekly celebrations of "Thirsty Thursdays," in attracting a sizable college crowd, fell prey to its own success when the gatherings became unmanageable, leading to police having to intervene regularly to maintain public order, "They are bringing in a large crowd and causing a disturbance all the time," said a Baltimore County police officer.

Geovannie Concepcion, The Greene Turtle's CEO, has publicly acknowledged the financial bleed the company suffered after stopping the promotional event, stating, “The reality is we can’t continue, so we are looking to close this location and work with the landlord to find a termination agreement that will be suitable for all of us,” as he told WBAL-TV. The relinquished license of this location has further reverberated within the local business community, with neighboring businesses expressing relief yet also trepidation about the future commercial landscape.
