During a focused crackdown on impaired driving over Labor Day weekend, deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office arrested 37 individuals suspected of driving under the influence within Precinct 4. These efforts are part of ongoing measures to reduce drunk driving and prevent related accidents. The arrests followed traffic stops where drivers exhibited signs of intoxication.
According to a Facebook post by Constable Mark Herman's Office, all suspects were charged with Driving While Intoxicated, including one Jay Rivera facing a third DWI charge, while defendants Ieshiia Alladin, Norris Helms Jr., Alvaro Toledo, Stephen Mosqueda, and Jared Silva Paz each faced a second offense citation. Ashley Jones was arrested under the additional gravity of having a child passenger while allegedly under the influence.
Additional charges filed during this period included Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle against Luis Torres, Jazmine Maxwell Daniels, Julio Meza Ponce, and Cameron Collins, as well as a Possession of a Controlled Substance charge against Derwin Escobar. Constable Herman was quoted stating "Drinking and driving is not tolerated in Precinct 4. If you choose to drive drunk, you choose to go to jail," as per the department's post.
