For those in Raleigh with a penchant for the arts, the Five Points Center for Active Adults is hosting a series of still life composition workshops aptly named "The Energy of Still Life Composition." Over the course of three weeks in October, participants aged 18 and older can delve into the intricate art of still life, a genre that transforms the mundane into the magnificent.
According to an announcement on the City of Raleigh's official parks and recreation website, instructor Adrienne will lead the workshops, focusing on how to infuse energy into still life drawings and paintings. Workshops run from October 1 through October 15, conveniently scheduled on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., allowing for a mid-week creative break for the working adult, or a structured art escape for anyone with free afternoons.
The course emphasizes not just the technical aspects of composition and form, but also the emotional connection between artist and artwork. Adrienne will guide attendees in "channeling your feelings into your art," a process which can be uniquely personal and expressive. Lessons promise to be intimate, with attention to individual expression, as per the City of Raleigh.
The course costs $22 and includes three sessions. Participants are required to bring their own materials, with a full list available online or by calling the Five Points front desk. The center is offering this workshop to provide Raleigh residents with an opportunity to explore still life art.
